During the redevelopment works of the rooms underlying the “Michelozzo Courtyard”, important archaeological finds have been found that have made necessary to conceptually review the project in its complexity, in addition to the appropriate revisions of the plant and structural projects.
The guidelines shared between the client, the competent superintendenceis and the designers have envisaged restoring and therefore making a museum of the entire ‘quadrilateral’ corresponding to the courtyard, including the so-called “Ramp of the Mules”, the privileged access to the underground rooms, and to leave in sight, how and where they were found, the most important findings, to testify and ‘tell about themselves’.
Enhancement passes from the reasoned exposition of the finds, indispensably mediated by a didactic apparatus that the project, attentive to the “sensory perceptions” of the visitors, research with a modality as intuitive as possible. Concentrating the showcases in a dedicated area, it was possible to organize the finds not only for their dating and / or place of origin but also in comparison with the major themes: ‘the house’, ‘the kitchen’, the ‘architecture’, etc. The deepening of the information is entrusted to a multimedia tool with a touchscreen display, a ‘physical extension’ of the showcases but distinct in a moment of synthesis of the exhibition itinerary.
